Stewartsville, New Jersey

Who installs flooring and tile in Stewartsville, NJ?

DeMarco Flooring, Tile & Renovations is a family-run flooring and tile contractor serving Stewartsville, NJ (08886) and the rest of Greenwich Township. We install porcelain and natural-stone tile, hardwood, luxury vinyl plank and heated floors, and we handle full bathroom, kitchen and basement renovations. We work out of a home office in Bloomsbury — there's no showroom to drive to. We come to you: we measure in your house, bring samples to your rooms and your light, and there is never a charge for travel. One crew runs your job start to finish, so the person who measures your floor is the person who lays it. Estimates are free and we're fully insured.

Stewartsville's housing stock is genuinely mixed, and that changes how a floor goes in. The village core near the old Morris Canal line has 19th-century homes with plank subfloors and settled joists that need leveling before anything rigid gets laid. The ranches and split-levels off Route 57 sit on slab or block foundations where moisture testing matters more than flatness. The newer developments toward New Village are OSB over engineered trusses — fast, flat, and forgiving. We quote each one differently because they are not the same job.

What we install

Six things we get called for most in Stewartsville

Every line below is work we've done in and around Greenwich Township. Pricing is per job, quoted after we've stood in the room and put a level on the floor.

Tile & stone

Custom tile & stone

Porcelain, ceramic, marble and slate. Curbless showers, niches, herringbone and mud-set pans — waterproofed to spec, not to the minimum.

Hardwood & LVP

Flooring installation

Solid and engineered hardwood, LVP, laminate. On older floors we sister and shim the joists first so the finish floor doesn't telegraph the dip.

Baths

Bathroom renovations

Full gut to finish trim: vanities, tile surrounds, glass, lighting and heated floor mats under the tile for the cold months.

Kitchens

Kitchen remodeling

Backsplashes, floors, cabinet and counter coordination. We sequence around your appliance delivery so the kitchen isn't down longer than it needs to be.

Basements

Basement finishing

Below-grade slabs get a moisture read before anything is laid. Framing, drywall, paint and a floor system rated for the humidity swings we get here.

Repairs

Tile repair & restoration

Cracked field tile, failed grout, loose shower pans and hollow spots. Often a half-day fix instead of the full tear-out someone else quoted you.

Local conditions

What's different about working on a Stewartsville home

Which flooring holds up in a Stewartsville basement?

In Stewartsville basements — especially the ones on the low side of Pohatcong Creek and the old canal cut — we install rigid-core SPC vinyl or porcelain tile over the slab, never solid hardwood. Warren County slabs move moisture year-round, and summer humidity here regularly pushes past 70%. We run a calcium chloride or RH probe test before quoting, then set an underlayment or membrane matched to the reading. Engineered wood is possible over a proper moisture barrier, but SPC and tile are the two that don't come back on us.

Do older homes near the Morris Canal need subfloor work first?

Usually, yes. Homes in the village core date to the canal era, and after 150 years the joists have settled unevenly — we routinely find 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch of deflection across a single room. Tile cracks and floating floors click when you lay them over that. We self-level or sister the framing first, add a second layer of plywood where the span calls for it, and only then install. It adds a day; it saves the floor.

How does the Warren County winter affect an install schedule?

Wood and laminate need to acclimate to your house before they go down. Between December and March, when indoor humidity in this part of New Jersey drops into the 20s, we deliver the material 3 to 5 days early and let it sit in the room at living temperature. Tile is less fussy but thinset still wants the space above 50°F for a proper cure. If your heat is off during a renovation, tell us — we plan around it rather than gambling on it.

Primary bathroom, full renovation

Stewartsville, NJ · 08886 · Primary bath

A full primary bath in travertine-look porcelain. The scroll mosaic border carries the whole way around the room and ties the shower, the tub wall and the vanity backsplash together — one line, four surfaces, no breaks at the corners. Oil-rubbed bronze throughout, with a rain head, body sprays and a hand shower on a slide bar. The shower pan is pebble mosaic, pitched to a centre drain, over a waterproofed and sloped mud bed.
