What's different about working on a Pittstown home
Does well water damage tile and grout?
It does, and in Pittstown nearly every home is on a well. Hard water high in iron and calcium leaves orange staining in grout joints and a chalky film on glass and stone, and it will etch honed marble over time. On well-water homes we steer people toward porcelain rather than natural marble in the wet areas, use a high-performance or epoxy grout instead of standard cement grout, and seal anything porous on the way out. If you have a softener, say so at the estimate — it changes what we'd recommend.
Can large-format tile go over an old farmhouse floor?
Only after the floor is made flat, and large-format is unforgiving about it. Tile 24 inches and longer needs the substrate flat within about an eighth of an inch over ten feet, and a Pittstown farmhouse floor is rarely close to that. We pour self-levelling compound, and on framing that moves we add an uncoupling membrane so seasonal movement in the joists doesn't transfer up into the tile. Skipping that step is why big tile lippage and cracked grout show up a year later.
Is a long gravel driveway a problem for delivery?
Not for us, but it's worth planning. A pallet of porcelain is heavy, and a box truck on soft gravel in March is how driveways get rutted. We usually break deliveries down and shuttle material in ourselves rather than putting a full truck down a quarter-mile drive in mud season. A curbless walk-in shower in large-format marble-look porcelain, with the veining run so it reads continuously across the back wall rather than restarting at every tile. Brushed brass throughout — rain head, hand shower on a slide bar, and squared-off valve trim. A single long niche is set at eye height with a mitred edge and no visible trim, and the bench is built in and clad in the same slab-look porcelain. The floor drains to a linear drain at the entry, so the pan reads as one flat plane.

Do I need a permit to remodel a bathroom in Pittstown, NJ?
Usually yes.
